MARSHALL & ILSLEY TRUST COMPANY TEAMS WITH FINANCIAL ENGINES® TO DELIVER INVESTMENT ADVICE

MILWAUKEE, WI and PALO ALTO, Calif., June 28, 2001 – Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company (M&I) and Financial Engines announced today that the Financial Engines Investment AdvisorSM service will be available to Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company's 750 plan sponsor clients, who use the firm's recordkeeping services and represent more than 325,000 participants.  The introduction of this investment advisory service will allow M&I plan participants online resources to institutional quality investment analysis and advice.

"This past year we conducted a survey of a core group of our sponsors and the results showed that 53.5% wanted to offer advice to their participants.  We recognize the importance of offering clients the best innovations in investment services," said Forrest Dupre, Vice President of Commercial Trust Services, Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company.  "We conducted a thorough, detailed review of the major on-line advice providers and selected Financial Engines because their methodology results in the highest-quality online advice.  Financial Engines provides plan participants with the necessary resources to prepare for a successful future."

When plan sponsors elect to offer the Advisor service to their participants, participants will access the service through a link on Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company's web site.  Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company, using SunGard's OmniPlus recordkeeping software, will provide Financial Engines with plan-specific information, including the pre-population of data from current participant account balances.  Financial Engines' simulation technology will provide the user with a financial forecast predicting the likelihood that financial goals will be realized by generating thousands of potential economic scenarios.  The Advisor service will also provide specific investment recommendations for a participant's account - increasing the participant's chances of a successful retirement.

"We are excited about this new relationship with Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company," said Patrick Hughes, Director of Business Development at Financial Engines.  "We will work together to improve their current and future customer relationships with the advice we provide by helping participants increase their chances of successfully reaching their financial goals."
