Here are just a few of the people behind the scenes at Financial Engines:

Christopher L. Jones (Chris) is chief investment officer and executive vice president of investment management for Financial Engines. In his role, Chris ensures that the investment advice and portfolio management provided by the company is of the highest quality. He is also the author of the book, "The Intelligent Portfolio: Practical Wisdom on Personal Investing from Financial Engines." Working closely with Nobel laureate and Financial Engines founder Bill Sharpe, Chris led a team of experts in finance, economics, and mathematics who developed the groundbreaking financial methodology that underlies the company's Online Advice and Professional Management services. Chris' team is responsible for investment analysis, financial research and development, and portfolio management. Well known in financial circles, Chris is frequently featured in investing articles in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Newsweek, Fortune, Forbes, and other national and regional publications. He also regularly speaks at industry conferences and events. He received masters degrees in business technology and engineering-economic systems and a bachelor's degree in quantitative economics from Stanford University.

Dr. Jason Scott is the managing director of the Financial Engines Retiree Research Center. The Retiree Research Center is dedicated to helping retirees maximize their standard of living in a world of uncertain investment performance, uncertain longevity, and uncertain health care costs. Jason has broad experience in retirement economics and has written on a variety of retirement topics, including longevity annuities, efficient retirement spending and investment strategies, and investor behavior as it relates to annuities. Prior to the formation of the Retiree Research Center, Jason directed the research and development group at Financial Engines. He received his B.S. in economics from Texas A&M University and earned his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.

As the director of Investor Services, David Ankrom leads our on-line support group, as well as a team of registered Investment Advisor Representatives in the Financial Engines Advisor Center. This is the group that members of our Professional Management program can talk to directly when they have questions about their retirement accounts or investment strategies. His team of friendly, helpful, and highly qualified advisors is skilled at answering questions and providing members the answers they need to feel informed and secure. Prior to joining Financial Engines in 2007, David spent 12 years at Charles Schwab and Company, helping investors and leading in various management roles. He has a B.S. in Accounting from the Indiana University, Kelley School of Business and previously held the financial Series 7, 63, 9, and 10 licenses. David currently holds the Series 65 license as an Investment Advisor Representative.

Dr. Matthew Todd is chief security officer and vice president, risk and technical operations for Financial Engines. His team is dedicated to ensuring the security and privacy of your confidential information. Their focus on the security, implementation and maintenance of systems, networks, and data means you can feel confident trusting Financial Engines. Matthew has been a local mentor for the SANS Institute, is both a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and holds the GIAC Security Essentials Certification. He has over 15 years' experience in technology, and has been actively involved in information security for the last ten years. Matthew obtained his Ph.D. from Northwestern University, and was a Fellow of both the National Science Foundation (US) and the Danish National Science Foundation.
